04.05.2014 - Sussex Megafinal 3rd May 2014
A great day out in Hassocks.Everyone did brilliantly either beating their personal bests, qualifying for the Gigafinal or even winning a trophy as Supremo or Suprema. Results can be found here with photos here. Lots of our players wrote their games down and brought them back to the Crowborough Classroom base for analysis and display on the demo board. This game from the Under 7s caught my eye and both players deserve great praise though our own Elena Currah came out on top this time.Don't over analyse just enjoy this lovely game and remember the ages of the players and that this is their 5th game of the day.Elena vs Arjun...

David and Amardip played an exhibition blitz match of 3 minutes + 5 secs against their two junior representatives and took a 6-2 lead into the afternoon playing session. After a lunch on the lawn outside the Hotel de Ville we reconvened in a pleasant playing venue. 08.04.2014 - Results Update
See Team tab for full results and remaining fixturesCrowborough 1 completed their matches in the MSCL Division 1 with a fighting loss to Worthing who came to the Community Centre with a very strong team. Out gunned on every board by an average 20 point grading difference we did well to score 1½ points with team captain Peter leading the way with a draw that went right to the wire.Crowborough 2 had a very strange match against Uckfield 1 who were the only team who could prevent us from taking the Division 3 Championship. Although officially marked up as a 4-1 victory to us the result could be challenged so we will await the hopefully favourable outcome of our last match before firmly grasping this trophy.Crowborough 4 are finely poised 2-2 against Championship hopefuls Horsham 5. Matthew's game is with the adjudicators to sort out a very complex position.Matthew is white and its black to play (PS watch out for Nh1+ in some lines)...

24.03.2014 - 2nd Team are Champions ?
Well possibly. Due to the MSCL rules on adjudication the match between Crowborough 2 and Uckfield 1 is finely poised at 1-0 with 4 adjudiations ! The 4th team drew with East Grinstead 2 with Murray gallantly stepping in to cover top board after;a) Graham Salmon calling in ill (get well soon Graham)b) replacement Tony slipping and badly twisting his knee on the way to the match (get well soon Tony)...

15.03.2014 - Team Update
The 4th Team match against Haywards Heath 3 which was postponed has been rescheduled for the 11th AprilThe 1st Team drew with Hastings 1 away with fine wins from Peter Kemp and Robert Elliston and a draw by Gareth Anthony on top board. Matthew Pannett was a late replacement and held on finely against strong opposition but had to resign on adjudication. I lost a poor game which I tried to do nothing and as Gareth pointed out I would have been better off if I had carried on doing nothing but unfortunately I did do something. The 3rd Team suffered a narrow defeat at the hands of the Woodpushers with captain Caroline Campion being the only winner though young Amardip Ahluwalia and slightly older Michael Redman achieved draws. ...

01.02.2014 - High Fives for the 2nd Team
31st Jan 2014 The 2nd team recorded their second 5-0 victory on the trot which makes it a perfect five wins out of five to extend their lead at the top of Division 3.Captain Chris Dunn reminded his players before the start that the Woodpushers are in third place with very strong players so not to be complacent despite a 1-0 default on board 5.His team duly responded with very high levels of concentration.Chris led the way with an early victory on board 4 while Jon on board 2 managed to turn the tables against Andy's attack down the g file. Board one quickly became a queenless middlegame and despite gaining a pawn with a bit of trickery black had to be very careful of white's strong bishop. However materiality prevailed in the end.Board 4 was the final game to finish with Roger's stubborn resistance finally breached by Gerry just before adjudication....
