Last season the 2nd team swept all before them to win Division 3 but this year has proved to be a tougher proposition. Indeed this result might not be enough to see off relegation back to the third tier as the Args were just one place above the drop and a draw keeps them a full matchpoint clear.

Chris Dunn played so we had a full team and got the result needed (a 3-2
win), which I worked out means we are safe on 3.5 match points as Horsham 2
can’t catch us (1/7) and Hastings 2 (1.5/7) and Haywards Heath (2/7) still have
to play each other so only one would be able to catch us.

Easter Egg Fun Night Invite to all Crowborough Junior and Adult members from our neighbours at Uckfield Chess Club.If you have not played in this annual event before then you should not miss this opportunity for fun and eggs. Its not just about playing chess its about taking your opponents eggs!

02.03.2015 - Bexhill Chess Tournament
Two Crowborough players competed in this FIDE rated tournament over the weekend of the 28th February to 1st March with varying success.Amardip played some excellent chess and had a chance to win the U1900 section in the last round but in the end had to settle for 3rd place and a £50 prize with a creditable 3½/5 score.David however was fighting at the opposite end of the U2200 section trying to avoid the wooden spoon. A draw in the last round assured him of a shared last place with the not so good score of 1/5 and the unwelcome distinction of not winning a game over the weekend.Final Scores in U2200 Section

2014/15 is proving to be a tough year for our teams with some recent narrow losses putting both our teams into a relegation scrap.Our 1st team narrowly lost on Friday 2-3 at home to Hastings 1 while our 2nd team have suffered back to back losses away from home to Horsham 3 and Woodpushers 1.However there have been some strong individual performances especially from Gerry and Amardip who have both achieved rating performances of 184 for the teams.
