After a smooth win by Amardip things looked good to begin with but with losses from David and Kieron it was down to regulars Graham and Caroline. Needing 1 point from the two games to qualify for the final the finish was tense.

Unfortunately Graham couldn't hold his isolated pawn in a level Rook and Pawn ending while Caroline's game went to the wire. With 2 minutes left each and a level position QRB and pawns vs Caroline's QRN and pawns anything could have happened and nearly did but unfortunately in severe time pressure Caroline didn't find the clever resource to save her Knights pawn and the game was lost.

A sad night which could have gone differently as Kieron had a good position out of the opening but was caught by a clever fork and I went wrong on move 11 playing an itsy bitsy pawn move instead of developing my bishop and pinning my opponents knight. I should listen to my own chess lessons.
