27.10.2012 - Crowborouh 1 vs Horsham 2
A terrific debut by Joshua with a win against highly experienced and very dangerous Horsham stalwart Ian Comley coupled with a quick win by Robert and a point from our captain Peter earned us an important victory in our opening 1st Division match. We have calculated that we need to finish in the top 8 this season to maintain our first division status.I am afraid my crazy Dutch defence against Tony Higgs kept me fully occupied so that I am unable to comment on any of the other gams. Please email your games and I will rectify this understandable omission.

26th Crowborough Chess Congress Results
18th September 2011
David Norton scored 5½ points to win this years tournament and the Joe Berberich cup as well as the Albany Cup in convincing style only dropping ½ a point to last years champion Ian Snape.
Peter Kemp came a close second with 5 points with Ian Snape and Matthew Payne equal 3rd on 4½ points. The veterans prize was won by John Sugden and grading prizes by; Sue Howell, Paul Smith, Shyam Kalairajah, Brian Howard, Gary Willson and David Duff.
For the first time, this year saw the tournament take place on the same day and venue as the junior congress with its 100+ entry allowing the senior players to see first hand the strength and depth of Sussex junior chess while the juniors could learn by example the concentration and focus required to play chess at the very highest level.
