The weekend saw the culmination of the 2020 UK Chess Challenge that started pre lockdown with the Crowborough Chess Club Qualifier during January and February with Henry Shaw winning our club competition.

With the onset of the Coronavirus we then moved online for the MegFinal and then the GigaFinal and for the few remaining qualifiers out of a total entry of 30,000 it was the turn of the TeraFinal.

Qualifiers from various age groups played a 7 Round Swiss Tournament on the Saturday with the top four in each group playing in a Knock Out to determine the champion.

These were 7 Round Swiss Events with the Top 4 Qualifying for the KO Final on Sunday.
These comprise of two semi-finals and a final played over 4 games at the same time control of 10 minutes + 5 second increments per move.

Everyone else will play in 5 Challenger Tournaments on Sunday competing for six cash prizes in each section.

So ArchieRook takes the Silver Medal as unfortunately even if he won game four with the black pieces at 2-2 he had the worse tiebreak from Saturday's games.

He should be very proud of his great performance.
