Hastings vs Crowborough
1st Team lost at Hastings 4-1 on Tuesday and it could have been a whitewash.
In my game we reached the following position. A few moves earlier my opponent had offered a draw and now allows a queen exchange.

I was tempted but after 31... Qxb3 32.Nxb3 a4 my two pawns on a4 and e4 are weak and it was not clear to me how I could make any progress. So I played 31... Bb4 which is a terrible blunder. 32.Nc4 the point being that after 32...Qxb5 33.Nd6 Qxc6 (the bishop is pinned and cannot take the Knight ) 34.Nxf7 leads to mate. If I don't capture on b5 my queen is open to attack after attack with moves such as 33.Nf4 and if I try 32...g5 then 33.Nc3 Bxc3 34.Rd6 is one possible line.
Fortunately my opponent missed 32.Nc4!! and I went on to take the only point of the match.
This leaves us firmly rooted to the bottom of the table with just 3 matches left to avoid relegation to Division 3.
