Xmas Yes No Tournament
Prizes galore were won in this exciting tournament created and arbited by Jonathan Tuck.
On every move your opponent had the option of saying yes or no to your first move. If No then the move was taken back and another move had to be played.
Tactics galore soon appeared on every board and questions as to when the clock was pressed and if a promotion to a queen was No'ed could you then promote to a rook were answered adroitly by the arbiter.
The tournament started at 6:30pm and three rounds were played before the adults turned up while a number of juniors left at 7:30pm with mini prizes of tree decorations.
The first game between two of our older members went on for ages as they could not seem to understand the concept of checkmate in this chess variant missing numerous opportunities of mate in one.
Finally the tournament ended at nearly 10pm and our marvellous no expense spared prizes went to;
1st Prize Thomas Martin - 2½ Litres of ready mixed screen wash
2nd Prize Daniel Longley - Pack of chess opening playing cards
3rd Prize Benedict Weis - Bar of Chocolate
4th Prize Jon Lawrance as top adult picked up a bottle of wine
