To All Club Members
Can we please ask members to pay their membership fees by
electronic transfer.
If you have not received an email with our bank details it means you are not on our mailing list.
Please email secretary@crowboroughchess.org to be added.
We will still accept cash or a cheque of course but direct
payment is easier for us as HSBC have now closed the Crowborough branch.
The AGM took place on Friday 21st September 2018.
It was noted that although we made a small surplus last year
with an end of season bank balance of £600 there are several factors that will
impinge on next year’s finances.
· Last year the 2017 Crowborough Congress had a
bumper entry of 48 while this year it was 36. The congress was still profitable
but with a lower income by £200.
· You may have noticed that we now have a cage in
the basement storeroom which means we do not have to lug sets, boards and clocks
up and down two floors. However there is an annual charge by the Community
Centre of £75 for this cage.
· As a non profit making local organisation the
chess club receive beneficial hire rates. However there will undoubtedly be
pressure on the Community Centre to increase hire costs from the 1st January 2019 due to the disruption of losing the nearby parking and resulting
development works.
Due to these factors the meeting felt it was prudent to
increase all the club membership rates by £5 to maintain a balanced budget.
