Interesting Game

Here is a game from our last 1st team match against Horsham.

It was great to have the players come into the club room and demonstrate their games on the DGT Board and TV Screen.

The following is an interesting game from Board 1 that Amardip said he had to stop analysing during the match as it was distracting him from his own game.

Gareth commented that there was a bucket full of analysis on this variation of the Pelikan Sicilian and was gambling that Michael was not familiar with it.

Michael Forster vs Gareth Anthony

Gareth had seen  a commentary on a GM game where a sub variation had been considered better for black in the position of this game after 27....Qg5 but unfortunately the computer thinks differently.

In fact multiple Crowborough Congress winner Ian Snape won a game with white against Samuel Williams from this position.

PS I cannot take credit for the comments in this analysis as they come from the players or from my database.

PPS after an email from Peter I have corrected above description of the opening from Sveshnikov to Pelikan as 9.Nd5 was played and not 9.Bxf6 as according to 365chess.com
