More adjudication nonsense from the MSCL
The Crowborough 1st Team got into their cars and travelled the 30+ miles to Horsham for the crucial MidSussex Chess League Division 1 clash against Horsham 2.
As the table below shows we needed a victory to give ourselves a chance of avoiding relegation.
Well 10 players sat down and between them devoted 28 hours to concentrated chess thought and for what.
At the end of the playing session the only game to have finished was Amardip's which was a fine win against a strong opponent on board 5. The rest of the games were all only half completed. The MSCL rules say after 42 moves and 3 hours, play must stop and games are adjudicated. This means that after 42 moves of toing and froing and with all respect to the players less than perfect chess played by all, the games are decided on the basis that the rest of the moves will be played at world class if not higher level.
Utter nonsense if my game was anything to go by you may as well flip a coin as depending when the game was stopped it would have gone from a loss to a win to a draw then back to a win and then to a loss. Who knows how it would have ended.
Some want chess designated as a sport well all sports that I can think of when the game finishes you know the result so in my view this sort of chess is not a sport and probably not even a game.
THE RULES MUST BE CHANGED
Anyway enough of my personal rant as I am sure you would like to have some idea of what I think may be the actual result. Answer not sure.
1. Peter Kemp looks like a win as he is ahead on material but his opponent has a dangerous pawn. Awaiting computer analysis. 2. George Salimbeni has a good knight vs a bad bishop with equal material. You would back him to win against a human but of course his opponent has suddenly turned into a computer. 3. David Fryer, I have 3 pawns for a piece but looks no good as a few moves before the end I rather stupidly placed my bishop offside trying to mate my opponent.

4. Gerry Michaud the most complicated of all the final positions. He is two pawns up but his opponent has all the play and it looks like it could be a castrophe for us but of course we are not human either so I believe there is a good shout for a draw.
Position is with white to move, Gerry is black.

I think the key lines are 1.e6 Kc8 2.Bh2 Qb4 3.Qg3 Kd8 and 1.e6 Kc8 2.e7 Qc6 3.Qf8+ Qe8
