British Chess Championships 2017

The Championships have finished and as could have been predicted with the shortened 9 day tournament there was a four way tie for first between the top 3 seeds; David Howell, Gawain Jones, Luke McShane and International Master Craig Hanley. Gawain Jones came out on top in the Rapidplay play-offs.

Amardip as hoped did finish well scoring 2½ out of his last 3 games and finishes on an encouraging 3½/9.

You can view and download all the longplay games here.

The British Championships are being played in Landudno and Crowborough Chess Club's sole representive in the Championship this year is Amardip Ahluwalia.

Amardip qualified for the Championship as West of England under 18 Champion but is finding the step up tough and currently stands on 2/7. However with two good results to finish the tournament off he could end up on a very respectable 4/9.

Here are a few puzzle positions taken from his games so far. See if you can solve them.
